Stop Food Cravings Before They Wreck Your Diet

Most of the time you might think it is hard to stop food cravings. Sometimes it’s true, but you can overcome your cravings if you minimize your thoughts about food.

One big way to curb your cravings for food is to know what time of day you normally crave foods you shouldn’t be eating while trying to lose weight. The snacks you shouldn’t eat, research is finding, are craved right before bedtime.

This is the time when you are extremely tired. You might feel like eating something you shouldn’t if you’ve had a particularly rough day. Only a few steps to the kitchen and there goes your diet for the day. High crabohydrate snacks right before bed is definitely the worst time to eat them.

One sure fire way to stop food cravings is to not have the types of foods you shouldn’t be eating in your house to begin with. If the food isn’t in the kitchen you can’t go in there and eat it. That high carbohydrate snack is all the way at the store out of your reach.

You should be occupying your thoughts with something else at that point. Bury your thoughts in some other project. When you are busy you won’t think about food as much.

Most cravings subside or pass in 15-30 minutes. Not thinking about food long enough by occupying it with something other than food will be able to get you through the roguh period.

If you absolutely have to eat a food that is similar but better for you than the food you are craving. There are always alternatives to the worst foods that aren’t as quite as high in carbohydrates or calories.

To curb your cravings eat a high protein snack instead of a high carb snack. Just don’t go overboard if you are trying to lose weight. Why does it matter if you eat a protein meal instead of a carb meal?

This is because your body uses more energy to digest protein that is does fats or carbohydrates. Therefore, eating the same amount of protein calories is not the same as eating the same amount of carbohydrate calories.

You shouldn’t ever skip meals. If you skip dinner you are highly likely to crave food before you go to sleep. You shouldn’t think you can get away with skipping out on your last meal for the evening without craving food later on. Don’t do it.

Focus your mind on something other than food, fill your belly with water, and if you must, eat a protein rich food instead of a high carbohydrate one. Doing these things will stop food cravings before they get out of control. Keep your head on straight because you can curb your cravings if you make these good ideas a habit.
